During a 3 day hackathon at GSN Games, I led a team of 2 developers (Mobile & Facebook) as a game designer, producer, and artist. This game isn’t entirely in 8-bit, especially on an iPad 3, however I wanted to design a Bingo game that hinted to the old days of amazing video games with pixelated graphics. I’ve referenced easily identifiable graphics from popular games like Donkey Kong and Super Mario, all contained within an arcade machine frame.
By the end of day 3, we had a playable game on both iPad (developed in Unity) and within GSN Games’ Facebook App (developed in Flash).
The game won Best Bingo Hack and Popularity awards, however it was never released to the public as it wasn’t accepted by the majority of GSN’s player base and the business couldn’t justify the additional resources for QA and production to release the game.
